Flying to Cyprus

There are two airports which are controlled by the Republic of Cyprus. You can choose to fly either to Larnaka or to Pafos (Official Website here). Given the big number of airlines that fly to/from Cyprus, it will be easy for you to find a direct flight that suits your schedule.

Being an EU member means that Cyprus allows EU citizens to travel using either their passport or their national ID card. Schengen visa holders are allowed to enter Cyprus. For a list of countries whose citizens do not need a visa, click here.

Transportation from and to the airport

In order to get to Limassol from the Larnaka or Pafos airport (and vice versa) you have two options: either a bus or a taxi. About Limassol

Limassol (or Lemesos) is the second largest city in Cyprus and prides a unique combination of modern and ancient gems. The main city lies between the ancient city-kingdom of Amathus and the ancient city-kingdom of Kurion, while the Limassol region extends further up in the mountains and includes beautiful villages which are known for their rich tradition in wine-making, hence their name “Krassochoria” (wine villages).

Being a bustling holiday resort, the city has a lot to offer during your stay. You can choose to take a stroll down the 15km-long promenade and choose from a huge variety of cafés, restaurants, bars and shops. If, on the other hand, you wish to experience the traditional aura of the city, then the Old Town is the ideal place to spend a few hours. There you can visit the Medieval castle and the Municipal Market where you can taste fresh products offered by traditional merchants. The area is busy throughout the day and night, and features a great variety of shops and places to eat and drink. Alternatively, you can relax at the Limassol Marina which is one of the latest additions to the city (Official Website here) or go shopping at My Mall Limassol (Official Website here). If you are planning to combine the conference with a bit of holiday, then have a look at this list of suggestions to make your stay in Limassol a memorable experience.
